The 2" Rollers - Part 1

Center Drilling End of Roller
Here I am drilling a ½" hole at the end of the roller for the ½" axle.  It pays to be as precise as possible in getting the hole centered and as parallel as possible to the roller.  If it is not centered, the gap between the rollers could change with the rotation of the roller. If the hole isn't as parallel as possible, the axle will not spin well in the bearing. I wasn't quite happy with the outcome of one of my rollers, so I bought another 8" length that turned out more to my liking.

Drilling Hole for Set Screw
I didn't want the ½" axle sliding out of the hole over time, so I drilled a hole about 3/8"  from the end.

Tapping Hole for Set Screw
I tapped the hole with a ¼" #20 tap.  I used a ¾" length allen set screw to secure the axle.
